Castles

South Tyrol, the land of fortresses and castles.
This is rightly a much cited sentence as South Tyrol is one of
the few holiday destinations which can call so many
magnificent fortresses, estates and pompous castles its own.
It’s not just for nothing that South Tyrol is known for being
Europe’s most famous holiday region with numerous castles.
With more than one hundred castles and fortresses, estates
and ruins this land takes you on an unforgettable journey through time; a
passage back into long ago eras. You will never forget your Italian
holiday spent in South Tyrol.
The fantastic world of castles and ruins extends
from the Brennero pass in the North all the way down to the border with
Trento, from Val Pusteria in the East to the Western part of South Tyrol
called Val Venosta.
Well preserved nobility-estates, baronial castles and magnificent fortresses
with towers rising up to the sky, firm defence walls and monumental knight’s
halls are the witnesses of an eventful history.
Most of the historic buildings have been affectionately
restored during the past years and centuries. Some of them have been
converted into museums and are nowadays open for visitors.
Get a very close experience of culture and history
– this too is spending an Italian vacation in South Tyrol.
